This blend was inspired by the darkest dreariest cold rainy days of Portland's winter. When we start wondering if the sun will ever return, or ever existed at all. This formula can help ignite the feeling of warmth, uplift spirits, social connection, and coax the seasonal blues away.   It can generally brighten things up!

My bitters aren't typical potions. They're formulated through a process of creating a concentrated herbal syrup using local honey, and fusing it with my own made-in-house tinctures.* The result is a bitter-but-sweet elixir that can be added to a beverage, or taken straight up. 

Blues Away Bitters are a great addition to a gin cocktail. 

Ingredients are all organic/ethically sourced:

Herb blend that includes St. John's Wort, Rosemary, & Lemon Balm

Local Honey

 

Tincture* blend

 

I make all my tinctures with Local Organic Everclear and & Organic/Ethically-Harvested Herbs. 

This comes in a 1 oz. violet glass bottle with dropper.

*Tinctures are a decoction of plants in alcohol, so that the botanical constituents get extracted into the alcohol. If someone is avoiding alcohol entirely, tinctures should be avoided unless they specifically say they are made with glycerin instead.

St. John's Wort: lights a fire in a heart, encourages social connectedness, lowers feelings of isolation, grounding

Rosemary: stimulating, warming, good for foggy thinking, low motivation, feelings of “blah,” moving cold and damp from system, promotes circulation and libido, great for sense of self, purpose, centered & grounded
